The most common occurrence of depression is that of Major Clinical Depression. It relates to an individuals mood, and how long the feeling of sadness lasts - for an individual to be diagnosed with Major Clinical Depression, their episodes must last longer than two weeks.

These episodes can be recurring, or a single constant episode. These episodes are divided into three classifications; mild, major and severe.

Individuals who have recently seen an increase in their wellbeing, followed by a marked drop into depression are usually diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder, rather than Major Depression.

Dysthymia is an ongoing depression. It is a milder form of depression, however it continues over a minimum of two years.

Many individuals with this form of depression also experience bouts of Major Depression throughout their suffering.

Postpartum Depression is another type of depression that effects many mothers within two years of child birth.

This is usually coupled with or derived from their lack of mental and physical strength after child birth - combined with a lack of sleep.
